School (Test Centre) Guidelines

Registration Procedure
  • Step 1: Login

    Your Portal Login details are sent to you via email. Please check junk mail or email your country Secretariat if you have trouble logging in.

  • Step 2: Change your password

    Click on the profile picture at the top right of your browser. Change your password for added security.

  • Step 3: Enter Your Details

    Upon login, you will be prompted to complete Test Centre information.

    • Enter the Full Address and Postal Code of your premises
    • Enter the maximum capacity of your premises
    • Enter Modes of Payment available (give clear instructions to candidates)
    • Click the checkbox to allow external students to sit for the exam in your premises

    Click 'SAVE'.

    NOTE: This information will appear in the invoice - it will be sent via email to candidates.

  • Step 4A: Manage Candidates (Uploading Data)

    Click on Manage Candidates > 'Candidate Records' > '+ Add Candidates'.

    Manual Upload or Excel Form
    Fill in student's details or enter Candidate No. from past SEAMO exams
    Check or edit to ensure accurate information. Click 'SAVE'.

    File Upload
    1. Read the WARNING
    2. Download file template
    3. Open the file with excel
    4. Watch the tutorial video
    5. Click 'SAVE' only once!
    6. Delete the file template after use
    7. Download a new template if you would like to upload more students

  • Step 4B: Manage Candidates (Required Information)

    Below are students' details and why they are required

    1. Name: (Spelt in Full) Printed on Certificate
    2. School: (Spelt in Full) Printed on Certificate
    3. Class: (Optional) For easy distribution of awards
    4. Grade Level: To determine which Paper the student sits for
    5. Email: To receive login details for Students' Portal, Invoice, Hall Tickets, Results Notification, Practice and more
    6. Contact No.: (Optional) Required only if student qualifies for SEAMO X 2020 held from 17 - 20 Jan in Gold Coast, Australia
    7. Address: Input address where medals and certificates will be sent to. (e.g. school, tuition centre or student's home address)
    8. DOB: (Required) Cross-referenced with selected Grade Level to discourage cheating

  • Step 4C: Manage Candidates (Adding to Exam)

    1. Click top right dropdown menu and select '50 per page'
    2. Click topmost checkbox to select all students who are participating in this year's exam
    3. Select Exam for this year (e.g. SEAMO 2020)
    4. Select time slot
    5. Click 'Add to Exam'
    6. Added candidates will appear in 'Registered Candidates' list
    7. All Exam Candidates will receive an invoice via email, containing exam details and Modes of Payment

    The 'Manage Candidates' function keeps a database of all participants from all years.
    Students who have participated before do not need to be uploaded again.
    They can simply be added to future rounds of the competition.

  • Step 5: Registered Candidates

    Go to Manage Candidates > 'Registered Candidates'

    This shows a list of students who have been added to the exam.
    An Invoice has been sent to candidates via email once they've been added to this list.
    Test Centres may track payment by clicking the 'PAID' button.
    Once PAID, a Hall Ticket is generated and sent to student via email.
    Students who have not paid will not be included in the current round of the competition.

    Automated Payment Gateway: Payments received via SEAMO's website will be updated instantly. No manual tracking of payments is required by the Test Centre. There is no need to click 'PAID'.

    NOTE: ONLY the party who receives the payment should click 'PAID'. All actions are recorded in our Activity Log.

  • Step 6: Hall Tickets / Answer Sheets

    Go to Manage Candidates > 'Exam Attendance'

    Candidates are to bring a printed copy of the Hall Ticket & Answer Sheet for entry to the exam hall.
    Candidate No. has been written by SEAMO portal in the Hall Ticket & Answer Script for marking purposes.
    A PDF can be generated which contains a compilation of all Hall Tickets & Answer Sheets for easy printing if required.

Examination Procedure
  • Deliverables

    • Secretariat → Test Centres: Exam Package (7 days before Competition Day)
      • Question Booklets (Printed)
      • Answer Scripts (Printed)
    • Test Centres → Secretariat: Answer Scripts (Original Hardcopy -- 7 days after Competition Day)
    • Secretariat → Test Centres: Medals and Certificates (by Monday, 18th Nov)

  • Conducting the Exam

    Prohibited Items
    • NO Calculators Allowed
    • NO Electronic Devices Allowed

    Competition Day Procedure
    1. Candidates may display their Hall Ticket and Student Pass at the top right corner of the table
    2. Invigilators may check to confirm the identity of the candidate
    3. Ensure that student's Candidate No. is written CLEARLY on the Answer Script to avoid Disqualification
    4. Ensure each candidate has a Question Booklet and an Answer Script
    5. Ensure the correct Question Booklet and Answer Script is given to the student -- refer to the Hall Ticket (e.g. Paper A, B, ..., F)
    6. Check that there is a total of 25 printed questions in the Question Booklet
    7. Allow 90 minutes for the competition
    8. All Question Papers and Answer Scripts must be collected after the competition to prevent question leaks
    9. Answer Scripts are to be submited via post to the Secretariat (your Country Partner)

Terry Chew B.Sc. is the first author in Singapore to publish a Maths Olympiad workbook series since 2007. The series 'Unleash the Maths Olympian in You!' is still being used as the Gold-Standard across Southeast Asia today. He is also the author of 'Wicked Mathematics', which helps mainstream maths students achieve an A* for the PSLE by equipping them with essential problem-solving strategies and tools in 28 lessons. His books are used in over 8 countries (Singapore, Malaysia, Australia, Indonesia, India, Vietnam, Philippines and the USA) and translated into over 3 languages. He also appears in international media due to his unique teaching methodology – The RA*CE Framework.

The Singapore Maths curriculum places a strong emphasis on Critical Thinking Skills as part of its 21st Century Core Competencies. Students must be able to make connections and think outside the box in order to be successful in school and in the workplace.
